The Museum of the Future Present was a short-term install in a 40’ x 40’ multi-use warehouse space, in Austin, TX. Lux Aeterna was tasked with giving technical direction, fabricating, and installing a host of video, lighting, and audio exhibits within the museum as a whole. The DIY aesthetic and mentality surrounding the vision as a whole, presented by ECC World Industries, enabled us to get creative with discrete lighting, localized audio, as well as fabrication.

We got to fabricate and implement the majority of the curated artists works, including pieces by Strangeloop, Gabby Biianco, Manya Kuzemchenko, Jonathan Horstman, Lorelei Linklater, as well as collaborations with musician-driven installs by Shabazz Palaces, Morgan Delt, Once and Future Band, Matthew Dear, Protomartyr, and more.

Overall, it was a great experience to collaborate with all of these artists, each with a different vision and a different set of technological tools, and bring these visions to life. We got to fabricate 2x 6’ tall Arcade machines, 2x 6’ tall Pyramids as projection mapping surfaces for Strangeloop, as well as a suspended TV array, consisting of 6x Tube TVs for his use as well. In addition to this, we had the opportunity to deploy standard MR16 Gallery lighting and some discrete custom LED arrays that were remotely controlled utilizing custom Art-Net driven microcontrollers. Beyond this, we were able to build an army of purpose-build Raspberry Pi Video servers that could replay playlists throughout the day, and also serve the vast array of TVs, and 10x Projectors.
